I Wasn't Expecting That!

June 13: Test day - lots of them. First I went to UC Health Memorial Hospital North here in Colorado Springs for pre surgery tests: EKG, chest x-ray and labs. Then I went to a UC Health radiology clinic for the breast MRI. Larry went with me. It was interesting. Two females got me in place for scan. They put me on my stomach with my breasts in holes (at least they weren't getting squished for a change). My arms were placed straight out next to my head. Imaging plates were placed tightly on each side of my breasts to include the underarms. Not a comfortable position for about 30 minutes, but tolerable.

June 17: Arrived in Washington state for Larry's son's wedding tomorrow. I didn't hear my phone ring, then saw I had a lengthy message from Dr. Sharon. The MRI showed two more suspicious areas; one on the left and one on the right. The known malignant tumor is larger than originally thought from the ultrasound. Lumpectomy is off the table. Will have to have a mastectomy and the nipple cannot be spared due to the size of the tumor and location. I wasn't expecting this news. I'm shook. Since the diagnosis, I've had brief moments of grief, sadness, anger, fear...a myriad of emotions. But I still have peace. "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7

I've been reading Heal Breast Cancer Naturally (mentioned previously) and doing a lot of research about toxins in our water, food, environment, body products and home cleaning products. What an eye opener! A lot of things that I wasn't aware of or didn't give much thought to. There's a lot I was aware of but didn't take seriously enough. Like the importance of buying organic foods, using a produce wash (not just running it under water), checking the ingredients on everything. I am now very aware of and intentional about what I put in and on my body, and what is in my environment.
